Eve of the Election - I endorse......

Very interesting audio/video done by howard stern. I always felt that race plays a huge thing in election. There is always overwhelming loyalty to a certain race despite their policies. For example, if an Asian was running for PM, I'd probably be inclined to vote for him too just to show some love from the motherland.

This can also be seen by Colin Powell who decided to endorse Barack Obama despite him serving with the republicans all his life??

*EDIT

just to reiterate what I was saying before, it is sad to see how uneducated people are about certain political parties and what they believe in. For example, for the recent Australian election, Rudd won convincingly yet no one really knew about his policies. They only voted for him because they were sick of Howard, who I might add was a great PM. Just because interest rates rose a few %, they blame howard, yet the Liberals were the ones who reduced it from 19%. Howard was the PM who fixed our economy from deb .Also it is the RBA who determines interest rates, not the government.

Anyways, I really hope they start introducing stuff like "politics" into primary schools so people aren't blindlessly voting for someone just cuz he's black....

Very interesting.

What saddens me more are those genuine Christians who support Obama despite his fierce pro-choice advocacy... as Al Mohler said on his blog, Obama is the most pro-abortion presidential candidate in history... scary...

hmm... i think its between two flawed sides, and mccain would have more tendencies to start wars. so which one's worse?? plus voting for palin...?? i dont think so...

Every candidate has their flaws... Would you guys refuse to vote or decide to vote for a small party that has no chance?

John Piper put it well that we shouldnt get caught up with politics and yes it's great to have a black man as president but pro-choice for abortion is definitely something we shouldn't support in itself.

now that Barack's been elected we can only pray that he will change his mind with his pro-choice stance and rely on God's sovereignty with however he governs the US. Ultimately our allegiance is to Christ the King and whatever government choices Barack makes then we should know God's hand is behind it all.

have a look at the video of John Piper's "Don't waste your vote" clip on my blog!

Anon, I think you're right when you said the election was between two flawed sides. Obama is a highly exciting candidate but his stance on a number of issues would have ruled out my vote for him. McCain wasn't that impressive to begin with (commentators were saying he was 8 years late in running for President) and Palin, despite her wonderful decision to have a down-syndrome child (rather than abort), was unfortunately the target of much criticism and satire.

Ivan - would you vote for a lesser party that had no chance? Yeah, tough call. In some ways this election was the choice between 'two evils' - trying to pick the lesser evil was the hard part...

Mikey pointed to a great clip by John Piper re the election - I should add though that Piper has written an excellent article on his desiringGod website re Politics and Single Issue Voting (& Marriage). It's very worth reading to help us decide what should and shouldn't disqualify someone from holding office.
