1) News Anchor: 5pm slot
- Frank Warrick and Kay Mcgrath have dominated the afternoon slot for decades. They've both been working there for so long, even since the days the channel 7 logo looked like this:
Frank warrick announced his retirement (sacking) in early 2002. Funnily enough, his slot was not handed down to a fresh, young intern of channel 7, the job was given to Rod Young, the dude who did ABC news for like 30 odd years.

The underlying trend is to recycle used up news anchors and move them across networks. Weatherman John Schluter moved from channel 9 to 7 recently and seems to be doing well. There are probably several unemployed, aspiring news anchors out there due to the networks reluctance to hire new people. Channel 9 has Bruce Paige and Heather Ford, who have been serving channel 9 for centuries. The only network that seems to bring in occasional fresh faces is Channel 10, Although I would've liked them to keep Tim Webster, who did sports tonight.

2) Sport Anchors
Networks these days only want to hire retired professional sporting stars to deliver their sporting news. This includes: Ian Healey, Michael Voss, Wally Lewis and channel 7 managed to snatch Shane Webcke. So basically, the prerequisite is that you must be a sporting legend in your respected sport. No chance...
3)Morning show Slot (830am -10:30am)
This slot has been dominated by tv veterans such as Bert Newton and Kerri-Anne. Although Bert finally was sacked by channel 10 after 50-60? odd years, Kerri Anne looks like she is going strong. She's much too lovely and likeable to be sacked.
4) Current Affair slot (6:30pm-7:00pm)
Once again this slot has only seen around 4 different personalities in both the 7 and 9 Network: (EG: Ray Martin, his replacement? , and now the lady who used to do the morning show)
Basically, if you want a future in TV, apply for channel 10 as they are the only network which is at least half open to change. Otherwise you will continue being the coffee boy/girl or janitor cleaning up the mess of these veterans.
