So close! yet so far...

As you all know, the economy sucks right now... so finding a job is no easy task. However, I finally secured a dream job where I was able to use my TESOL to teach kids overseas via webcam. The place is great, the pay is also above average and the hours were flexible as well. I attended orientation this morning and met a lot of cool people. We all went through the process of filling out our bank details, superannuation etc. When i got home, I got a phone call from one of the higher ups, saying they can no longer hire me because I am not white.... true story!

It's funny because if I was black, could they have fired me?

Or if I was a mix? Arab appearance?

Or was it because I am Asian, and the international schools over there just perceive Asians as the worst English speaking people in the world?

Nevertheless I feel that I have been jibbed, and if the Korean society have those sort of views, then their perceptions are screwed up. We live in a world where race shouldn't matter anymore, and an employee should be judged according to their abilities, not their race. You see if I was white, I would have never got that call.. that's how twisted this situation is right now...

I am in shock at the moment, don't know what to feel /do. ..

But I definitely won't go down without a fight :p
