Exams!!
As you all know, we are currently in the first week of exams. It is only the second day of exams and I've already had two exams! Nevertheless the exams so far have been fair... no real shocks or surprises of any sort.
Today I had to wake up at 5:30 for my 8:00 exam. The reason it was set to 530 was because I knew that realistically I wouldn't get out of bed until 630 or so. Ideally, I could've set it to 430 to squeeze in some study time however I don't think I have the will power to do so. Sleep is precious and nothing interferes with my 8 hrs of beauty sleep. My phone also has a limit of like 10 or so snoozes so if it goes beyond that the phone just stops ringing, and that has happened more than enough times.
With regards to the course/exam, it's one of those courses where two outdated lecturers are trying to teach students how to use a modern program like excel. So picture two old men who have no real idea what's going on teaching us how to use a computer( as if they can teach us). It's like asking two bogans to travel all the way to China to teach the CHinese how to use chopsticks.
The whole 13 weeks was pretty much a waste of time as 5% of the exam was based on the lectures. These lecturers are the type of lecturers who never like to change things so the assessment are generally very similar year to year. Luckily for me , centrino some how found a loop hole in the system and sent her solutions from last years weekly assignments to me, According to her, she went to the course website when she did the subject and the lecturers were stupid enough to leave the solutions there (from the previous year). Anyways, she ceased the opportunity and in her own words "yoinked" the solutions for herself. Thank you centirno for the solutions, they were of great help. Overall I think I learned nothing from this course as I never really understood the core concepts. The beauty of economics is that you memorize the steps in doing questions, never question it. As Tissy and I put it " who cares about understanding it, just do it".
The exam was based a lot on previous questions, and I used my memorized techniques to answer 95% of the exam. Had the lecturer bothered to rephrase the questions, I think I would've failed the exam. If he changed "The" to "This" in one of the questions, it would be enough to throw me off and confuse me. Obviously, I'm not the academic type.
Oh yeh! got one more thing to say about the exam. UQ is infested with flies, but the invasion didn't really start until steph came towards me. Initially the surroundings were perfect; Great weather, the flowers were blooming etc. However when steph came back form her toilet break, she brought a whole swarm of flies to me. It's getting late... I will end this blog and hopefully update it tmr, I will try and talk about something more interesting other than exams..
God Bless y'all
