Funny how when people drive, they think they are sitting in an enclosed bubble where their window is only one way. Unfortunately that's not the case and I've seen my fair share of people picking their nose, mouthing songs and doing other detestable acts.

Another funny story was in Taiwan where I went out with the senior kids to muck around near the school and on our way, Emma (the beautiful nurse) started laughing out loud. I quickly walked over to ask her what happened and she told me she just saw someone getting changed! We laughed more and I asked if it was a man or woman, she told me it was an old woman which made us all cringe. The morning after, we retold the story to other people and Emma backstabbed me by telling everyone that it was me who saw it! Everyone was calling me a sick pervert etc~!!

Lesson to be learnt:

- Your car is not 100% private
- Draw your curtains when getting changed, random kids could be walking by.
- Don't trust the beautiful nurse!

Updates: I have almost finished my survival month without parents. My dad is coming back in a few days but is he more a burden or benefit?? Just kidding , despite his cooking inabilities and me having to cater for an extra person when cooking, I'd much rather have him around!

- Had to paint the ceiling for my grandma as her roof was peeling. I read up on it and it had something to do with Calcimate? Anyways she didn't want me to scratch all the paint off as it would cause a huge mess in her house. She just wanted me to paint certain sections just to cover up the really bad bits. I knew it was a bad idea but painted anyway. The more I painted the more it peeled and when I eventually finished, the paint looked like it was peeling in other areas! sign! This is why I'm not a blue collar worker! At least she is happy with it. Lets hope it doesn't look as bad 3 weeks later!

-Caught up with the BCCC crew the other day. Good to see that they use up their time playing COD MW2 all day.

- Fantasy Updates: Went from 14th place to 9th place. After I beat Sam, I will be the leader of the inactives, but the loser of the actives. My other fantasy is doing well, for the past 3 weeks I've had winning weeks. (7-1 , 6-2, 8-0). My team is in full order, minus Redd who seems to go on (when I don't roster him) and off ( when he scores 2 points). KD is my friend ☺☻♥

It has been raining non stop!

Good because:

- Farmers get water and prices will fall ( I doubt it)
- Australia's drought will hopefully stop after so many years
- Showers will hopefully increase from 4 --> 5 minutes
- Front lawns will turn from white to green again.
- Water is awesome.

Bad because:

- Grass will grow too quickly.
- Toads and Mozzies thrive in this weather.
- Impossible to do washing.
- People go missing after intense floods.

Typhoon

The two major typhoons that Doj and I were anticipating never passed our way. The first instance had torrential rains which usually leads to a typhoon but ended up being a bright and sunny day the next morning.

The second one (Typhoon N, o , p??) was supposed to be huge but once again never came. Doj and I were so worried that we bought like a week's worth of supply of food. Instead of staying in, we went out shopping because the weather was fine.

Random fact: Typhoons/ hurricanes/ cyclones are named consecutively via the alphabet. The genders alternate after each passing cyclone etc.

Eg Hurricane Ann, Hurricane Bob, Hurricane Candice etc

After an agonizing 2.5 hours watching some random movie about an art teacher (Amir Khan pictured above) who sees potential in a kid who suffers from dyslexia. I was forced to watch it again last night because some of the leaders missed a big part of the movie. I think I was the only person in that room who had already seen the movie in its entirety so I was greatly burdened by it. Nevertheless, it was worth watching again because all the ladies at the church fell in love with this guy. A passing comment by lily " zhe ge nan sheng tai shuai le!" was probably the highlight ( meaning this man is too cool/handsome).

Why do the Taiwanese girls love him so much?

1) In the words of lily " he is too handsome"
2) He is extremely compassionate, works at a special school , works at a centre that caters for disabled children , and cries every scene.
3) He can sing, and knows how to work his booty.
4) He was the only teacher in the whole school who paid particular attention to this dyslexic child.
5) He even caught a taxi to the childs home to tell his parents of the problem.
6) He bought milk and cookie for a child waiter.
7) He opened up his first class by playing the piccolo, dressed as a crown and doing back flips. This eventually turned into a very catchy song.
8) He respects his elders and fellow co-workers, never argues and is very well spoken.
9) When a cabbage fell on the floor, he had the heart to pick it up for the store owner.
10) He is perfect

After the movie ended, most of the women were teary. This morning most of them were tired I think because they were dreaming of this man. The movie is called stars on the earth or stars of the earth, I forget. ALl i know is that I'm never going to watch that movie again.

Cost Cutting Airlines

Throughout my domestic flights in the USA, I have noticed that each plane has taken almost one hour to board as people do not want to pay $35 to check in one piece of lugguage. This causes havoc as the overhead lockers eventually are filled up causing people to stress and walk around the plane to find a vacant spot for their huge bag. Charging $35 is a horrible concept and is causing most flights to run late. If they charged say even $5, people would be more than willing to forego the extra cash for convenience???

New Mexico Shenanigans Part I

After telling Californians that I was heading to El-Paso, their first response would always be a terrified shock, followed by a response along the lines of " You serious? You're going to get shot! It is right next to Juarez".

Juarez recently has been declared the deadliest place in Mexico where corrupt government, drug cartels and poverty have caused social unrest in the border of Mexico. People are dying on a daily basis which has lead to increased border security throughout the El-Paso-Las Cruces (New Mexico) area. Enough history about Juarez, I ended up in Las Cruces where I stayed with my fellow Angel Maria.

Things that I did

- Ate a year's supply of Mexican Food

- Saw Laurie and her husband, also met her step son and son Josue.

- Attended a funeral :S.

- Reunited with the New Mexican gang Obed, Uziel, Hali, Rosi

- Attended their church service and received a generous donation from them ( as they knew i was going on missions)

- Drove along Juarez at a safe distance ( saw the huge mexican flag)

- Visited the space museum where the monkey is supposedly buried

- Passed the white sands

- Hills have eyes and a whole bunch of movies based in the desert is filmed in New mexico

- Waiters can't understand my accent

- Visited the gang's church, it was great!

- Visited some mountain in the distance

- Saw the sleeping lady

- etc etc

NY shenanigans Part II

- Visited the Brooklyn Zoo, lots of crazy animals including Bisons however most animals were in hiding due to the intense storms of last night.

- A dude sitting across me was cutting his damn long finger nails in the subway. They were so intense that one of them sprung out and hit my knee while he was cutting it. Ironically he had 2 nail clippers on his key chain which begs the question: Why were his nails so long? surely someone with 2 nail clippers would have shorter nails.

- I am in serious need of nail clipper action :S.

- Went to a New York Mets baseball game, a lot better than expected although they got owned 14-2 by the Atlanta Braves. Randomly met people who have studied/from Brisbane (sitting in front of us), how coincidental.

- Regrets not bringing camera out.

- Colin's friend Mitch is the unluckiest guy in the world: Saw two girls waiting to pick up lugguage, caught a taxi on his own, the taxi behind him was the two girls ( couldve shared fare). Bought a $27 weekly subway ticket, lost it on his first swipe, his first trip cost him $27.

- Walked past the David Letterman studio... everyone was lining up to see Mike Meyers, but we never saw him.

- Almost made it to the rockerfeller centre.

- Drank like 1 litre of ice tea...didn't have to pee all day because I lost so much water from the heat...... Maccas is not as good as Asia Maccas....

- Colin ordered an Ice coffee at Starbucks without milk, it tasted like crap.. he was too embarassed to ask for milk, he will try and redeem himself tomorrow.

NY shenanigans

- Weather is very humid, currently in a heatwave.

- Was stuck in a huge storm, chatted to a random who moved from Virginia to NY.

- White Castle offers drink upgrades up to a gallon ( approximately 4 Litres@@@@)

- Since all streets are parallell, decided to walk through a different street back to the hotel.. happened to be the gay street of NY.

- Arizona Tea is awesome ( 700mL cans)

- Nearly died walking around central park, also walked the wrong direction at one point.

- Ate subway: Can't understand the hispanic person serving me, the meatball is not as nice, won a free ice tea and also 20% off some clothing store.

- Saw a black guy performing on the street who initially did a somersault over one person, he started entertaining the crowd for another 15 minutes and managed to jump over seven people (horizontally while they were bending over). (Union Square)

- Toys R us in Times Square has a ferris wheel inside it.

There's always an ongoing joke where Franklin would always say how I'm always affiliated with anything southeast Asian (Vietnam, Thai, Cambodian, Burmese etc). This was because in uni I was a little darker and my hairstyle was different to what it is today. Anyways, people would always come up to me and speak viet and ask if i was from Vietnam etc. People would also draw comparisons with people like Tony Ja (Ong Bak) etc. Anyways I tend to disagree.

I have a secret hobby: gardening. I love planting things and watching them grow. But I also hate planting them and watching them NOT grow or a stupid bird defiling it. A few weeks ago I planted 3 passion fruit trees, countless number of shallots and a few garlic seeds. So far, I have no idea how the passion fruit are doing, but I see some roots surfacing so I'm hoping they are not weed roots. My mother planted a shallot root and it is growing healthily while I'm waiting for mine to break the surface.

Anyways I had this weird dream last night where I woke up and all my plants had mysteriously turned into healthy trees. So I go over to the passion fruit and for some reason, when they grow it is in a shape of a semi-hemisphere? (is that a word). So the seeds are all exposed, I look closely and instead of the passion fruit being yellow, they are purple and also the seeds inside are massive and taste like grapes. Random thought..

Anyways I hope my brother will water the plants while I'm away in the USA.

Pictures have recently surfaced on FB with me wearing a graduation gown. A lot of people have congratulated me , but some people*ahem stephen* think I'm a fraud and haven't graduated at all. To clear things up.

1) Yes I have graduated.
2) I missed my graduation last year because I was in Taiwan doing missions.
3) No one actually knew I graduated then so I'm receiving the congratulations I deserve (give it back stephen!)

Don't you find it hilarious when watching baby videos, after the baby is filmed for a while they get curious, stop their dancing or whatever and walk behind the camera trying to figure out what the camera person is looking at. While the camera person is trying to slowly back away because they are trying to film the baby. Then the baby starts to get irritated because he/she thinks the camera person is denying something awesome to him/her. I guess you need to explain the concept of filming to babies before filming them. ☺☻♥

Misinterpreting Commercials

There is this ad in QLD by RACQ which shows a lady in a dark empty parking lot trying to start her car. After a few tries, she sighs in frustration and begins calling home. After a few rings, there is no answer and when she looks to her left, a man suddenly appears at the window and asks " do you need any help?". Obviously distraught she refuses to accept it as this man could potentially be some serial murderer or rapist. The camera zooms out and you hear the answering machine of her home.

When I saw the ad, I was with my brother and father and I said that the random man is too friendly and should've used a more seedy, scary looking guy to be at the window. My brother out of disbelief says " But that will draw people away from RACQ!" . My dad and I look at eachother in shock and then begin laughing our heads off as that "stranger" obviously was not RACQ. My brother totally misinterpreted the ad. I told this story to a couple of people and the majority (minus a couple) understood the ad. Unfortunately we got into a huge discussion, debating whether or not the man was from RACQ. Here is my argument:

1) The mood music is scary , lonely giving the impression that it is a place you wouldn't want to be in.
2) The lighting is very dark and gloomy.
3) When the man appears, it is accompanied with short orchestral screechy music. Which obviously makes him a scary person , not someone from RACQ.
4) The lady doesn't accept his help because he is a stranger and you can't trust anyone these days.
5) RACQ is not a good samaritan service that helps random girls in empty parking lots.
6) THE AD DEPICTS A MESSAGE THAT IS COMMON SENSE: If you had RACQ, you wouldn't be in THAT SITUATION, RACQ helps you avoid those scary situations!!!
7) The first person I argued with is a person who didn't understand a simple skit which everyone else understood.
8) THe other person thinks she has seen the ad but vaguely remembers that the stranger was Santa Claus? ( in a Christmas special??)
9) The 3rd person who randomly joined in was a trouble maker who hasn't even seen the ad!

* EDIT: Cousin has just informed me that during christmas time, they did add a Santa Claus.

- Cousin also agrees with me and says RACQ wears yellow overalls or those fluro jackets, not dark blue overalls (blue collar worker).

USA adventures pt 1

USA trips are always memorable.. the USA is like a fantasy land, exactly as you see it on TV. In Las Vegas, the people do party for 24/7, and everything is sold super sized hence all the overweight people (although Australia currently holds that title). Nevertheless the Americans are still our brothers, we came from the same mother (Great Britain) except they want nothing to do with the family... like the typical rebellious child who ran away from home, while the Australians are convicts who stay loyal to their mother because they can't fend for themselves.

Going to the USA is a struggle in itself. It takes approximately 14hours to get there, and that is IF you are lucky enough to get a direct flight. My cousin and I in 2004 managed to nab Air New Zealand tickets to SanFrancisco. We didn't find out that we were stopping at New Zealand until that very day. Nevertheless we knew that 14+ hours worth of flying would be incredibly boring so we came up with a very smart plan:

1) We were to preserve conversations and only talk if abosolutely necessary, therefore we would need to exhaust all the entertainment on the plane before talking. (IPODS, movies, books etc)
2) We would try to sleep as long as we could.

As I've never flown Air Newzealand before, we weren't sure about the quality of the planes (all we really cared about was the entertainment). When we set foot on the plane, it was sparkling clean and awesome. The pilot announced that we were the first customers to experience the new Air New Zealand planes with state of the art on demand movies. My cousin and I were so excited that we decided not to use any of the entertainment in the first leg of the trip so we could save it for the 12 hour flight. Instead we just sat there in silence for 3 hours in antipication of our next leg to the USA.

After our first leg, we got off at Christchurch(or Auckland?) and were happy that we didn't talk to each other at all. As we got onto the next plane, we found out that it was a totally different plane!! The plane was old, seats looked festy and there were no individual screens!! Even worse was that the projector was the old fashioned ones that had the 3 colours!! We were devestated...

The 12 hours went by sooo long. There was also this vietnamese girl sitting next to me who couldn't stop talking and claimed that we were long lost relatives because her surname was Phung. She basically explained her whole life story to me. When she finally went to the bathroom, I used it as my opportunity to finally fall asleep *phew*.

Lesson to be learned:
1) Don't wait, use entertainment when it is available.
2) Book an aisle seat so you won't be stuck talking to randoms who claim to be your relative.
3) Don't travel via Air newzealand.

Sorry for the lack of updates. A lot has been going on, both good and bad. But I promise to update it more regularly (sorry Nathan).

Major things that have happened recently:
1) Shaq to Cavs, Hedo to Toronto, Artest to Lakers, Vince to Orlando. What is this?? NBA 2k??? Why so many trades???
2) Might be heading to Cali in August!
3) Got a major stomach bug

Sooo tomorrow were having a “Celebration event” from Fri-Sun and basically you get placed in countries and you compete doing sports events and other types of competitions going against other countries. I got Mexico (go figure right?J) one of my other friends he got Australia. And I made a comment I was like “wow I wish I was Australia! …are you going to be doing an Australia accent” and another one of my friends said “no he’s not ..have you ever seen a black guy with an Australian accent!? There are no black people in australia!” Lol so I said yea there can be! I have Chinese friends that live there///and so both my friends look at me and give me this “are you crazy?” look! I was raised up as a clean freak so there are a few things that I absolutely refuse to touch with my hands (thanks mum). These include:

- Toilet seats ( I would use my foot to flick it up or down)

- Railings on stairs OR escalators.

- Trolley handles

- Public bathroom door handles (if possible, I'd wait for someone to open it and then slip through the gap)

However, for some reason there are really dirty things I would still touch like:

- Money

- Public computer keyboards/mouse

- Public tables (Uni / Foodcourt)
